We have managed programs at the agency and facility level using databases, interactive mapping, and proprietary software. AirQuest personnel has conducted hundreds of surveys as well as designed and managed numerous abatement projects. Our experience includes working in residences, historic buildings, hospitals, and large industrial complexes at risk of asbestos-containing materials and needing consulting or testing services. As an accredited asbestos testing business, all personnel are certified under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Title II/Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA).
AirQuest inspectors have extensive experience in performing surveys for property transactions. The surveys allow the financial liability associated with managing and removing asbestos-containing material (ACM) to be considered in the valuation of the property. Asbestos surveys and screenings involve a sampling and laboratory analysis of the building materials and can accurately identify and quantify asbestos fibers.
Before renovation and demolition activities, the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulation requires that all building materials that will be impacted be surveyed to identify all ACM.
Building purchasers and owners will become aware of this so that asbestos material can be safely managed or removed depending on the ACM results. Keep in mind, if asbestos-containing materials are in good condition and the asbestos is “sealed,” it can be safely managed through a proper operation and maintenance (O&M) plan.
AirQuest Project Managers then work with the owner, architect, or contractor to remove the ACM or alter renovation plans. In addition, AirQuest can manage any remaining ACM in-place.
Finally, asbestos testing and surveys for ACM may be performed to comply with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. All workers will be informed of ACM or PACM (presumed asbestos-containing material). This information ensures that workers do not disturb the assessed materials, which could result in potential exposure for themselves and others.
In addition to ACM removal, there are many asbestos management options for clients based on needs such as abatement oversight, air monitoring, development of an O&M plan, and sample testing to prove the building is clear of asbestos particles in the air after removal.
AirQuest can manage the removal process and through the use of subcontractors with whom AirQuest has competitive rates and long-standing relationships. From project design to the compilation of a post-abatement report, AirQuest provides full project management for clients who utilize the asbestos testing services. AirQuest also submits the ten-day notification to State and local EPA representatives. The post abatement report includes a daily journal of abatement activities, daily and clearance air monitoring results, and waste disposal manifests. All procedures and documentation meet the requirements of Federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
